Biography of Bernard Jan Wendeln WG’04
Bernd co-founded and is managing director of WEGA support GmbH, the family office of the entrepreneur families Wendeln and Kläne, who built their fortunes in the bakery business. WEGA invests its funds across various asset classes, including stocks, fixed income, private equity, hedge funds, real estate and commodities. The offices of WEGA are located in North Germany and Munich. Bernd represents WEGA in the board of BonVenture, a social venture capital fund for Germany, WEGA co-founded with two other families in 2003. Furthermore, he is in the board of directors of Hild, a life annuity business in Budapest, Hungary and of Bavaria Industriekapital, a publicly quoted holding investing in distressed companies in Germany. Bernd is also a member of the investment committee of Unitus Equity fund, a microfinance equity fund that invests in developing countries.
Before WEGA, Bernd worked as investment professional for Apax Partners in Munich from 1998 to 2000. He holds a BA from Munich Business School and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
